Ring-necked Duck at Lago Calamito, a report by Howard Laidlaw

Imagen
I had a Ring-necked Duck at Lago Calamito, Panama Rainforest Discovery Center on the afternoon of Sunday, January 11. Was with the continuing Masked Ducks . Lousy photos but the pale eyering and white ring on the bill can be seen. Not sure of its newsworthiness but there are still 2 American Wigeons hanging around at Gamboa Rainforest Resort Marina.

Migratory ducks galore in Gamboa, a report by José Tejada

Imagen
November 8:  Northern Shoveler, American Wigeon, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup  (no valid picture of Lesser Scaup as they are all blurry cause I was doing a cruise ship tour and didn't have my spotting scope; so I TOOK THE PICTURES THROUGH MY BINOCULARS!!!!!). All the ducks were located in front and to the right of Los Lagartos restaurant at Gamboa.

Macanas, Aguadulce and Punta Chame, a report by Jan Axel Cubilla

Imagen

American White Pelican, American Wigeon in Punta Chame

Imagen
Euclides Campos and Laura Reyes went to Punta Chame today, and they found two American White Pelican and an American Wigeon. After you pass the town of Libano and the former shrimp farms (they have cleaned them out) you find the first guard rail to your right side and mangrove to your left. Further, there is an embankment and you can see it from the guard rail.

Ducks at Rodman Ponds

Danny George visited Rodman ponds and found four  Wigeon , plus the female  Pintail among the teal.

Ducks at Rodman Ponds, etc.

Five American Wigeon were found in the morning at Rodman Ponds. The Cattle Tyrant was seen on its usual haunts behind the ARI building at Amador. The Herring Gull was there, too. This morning (dec 25) Karla Aparicio, Ruby Zambrano and Darién and Camilo Montañez went to Rodman Ponds to look for the Pintail, but instead found at least five American Wigeon, including a male in breeding plumage. They were first seen in fligh, their size and wing pattern distinguished them from the Blue-winged Teal they were flying with. Once they "landed" the head pattern of the male was seen clearly, the white forehead being very conspicuous. The cinnamon flanks and the contrasting white belly and undertail coverts could also be seen clearly. Later, the group visited the ARI building at Amador where Ruby found a Cattle Tyrant and, minutes later, the Herring Gull. There was only one Blue-footed Boobie in the concrete blocks at Punta Culebra. What better Christmas present than a lifer? Go get...
